How to get here

By car

  • from the Aosta-East motorway exit, continue until the interchange for the Gran San Bernardo Tunnel towards Variney;
  • then, take the S.R. 18 for Valpelline and continue towards Bionaz;
  • just before the village, take the road on the left that leads to the Place Moulin dam (2000 metres above sea level, about 30 km), where there are two convenient parking lots;
  • on the dirt road that runs along the artificial lake, you will reach the locality of Prarayer in an hour. At this point, the ascent begins (path 10a); it takes 3 hours along the trail with a very short section equipped with chains (the glacier has retreated past the hut; as such, crampons are no longer required) to arrive at the Aosta Hut (2788 metres above sea level).
